An International Evening

An International Evening was held at Redbridge Primary School on Thursday 17th June 2010

About one hundred children took part in a celebration that was aimed at bringing together Dance, Music, Drama and Traditional costumes from across the world.
The programme included African drumming, Traditional Tamil Dance, Recorders, Drama (The Sleeping Beauty), Bhangra, Chinese Ribbon Dance, Choir, Sitar, Street Dance and a Traditional Dress Fashion Show.

The evening bore fruit of the children’s hard work and commitment over the past few weeks. Children proudly wore their traditional costumes and shared with the audience their thoughts on how they felt when they wore these costumes and why the costumes were important to them. Indeed, some of the costumes were specially made for the evening as everyone wanted to produce their best. Parents commented favourably on the high standard of the children’s work and they enjoyed seeing the cultural variety in the performance.
During the short interval, parents had an opportunity to taste food from different parts of the world. The food had been contributed by the school staff for the parents. It was great to organise an event that brought the school community together.
